A four week design competition, hosted by the Four Seasons, Denver. This pavilion responds to it’s place as well as the requests of the client: A space for banquets and events, but a monument standing proud at all other times. My approach sought to expose the ironic conversation of a city neighboring a mountain range. A The city: a web of interconnected people, streets and buildings. The Mountains: an environment they all escape to. The structure was influenced by Sou Fujimoto’s Serpentine Pavilion, a three-dimensional, module that lends itself to variation. The shell material is imagined as a polycarbonate to bring natural light in during the day, and emit light at night. The form is inspired by the font range that can be seen down Arapaho Street when you step out on the side walk. Together, a composition of natural and artificial.
