This museum design was inspired by and designed to store and display the work of American artist, Carl Andre. Andre is a controversial minimalist artist who utilizes raw materials in gridded juxtapositions to evoke an experience. He is often criticized for his approach to sculpture and place making. Instead of defining an object, he would rather use said object to define its context. I investigated the friction and compression of the city of Denver and its adjacency to the open and dematerialized natural beauty. The first stage of this development established the interplay of vertical and horizontal elements, approaching them with the required programmatic needs in mind. What this process established was a relationship between visual and physical passages. One being primarily vertical (visual) and one being primarily horizontal (physical).
